Detailed Itinerary


DAY 1: - TRAVEL TO FRANCE - WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 15
  • Fly through the night to Paris

DAY 2: - VERSAILLES / ORLEANS - THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 16
  • We will have the services of a coach bus for the whole day.
  • Arrive at Charles de Gaulle Airport, pass through passport control & collect your luggage
  • Meet your Prométour Tour Director (TBD)
  • Board your motorcoach and travel to Château Versailles, the extravagant Sun King Palace
  • Visit the opulent Grand Apartments, the Hall of Mirrors and the Queen's Apartments (guided or audio guides, based on availability)
  • Discover the elegantly landscaped Park
  • Make your way out to Le Hameau de la Reine & the Trianon Palaces

  • Lunch with your Prometour Tour Director
  • 14:30 Continue to Orléans, located on the banks of the Loire River
  • 16:30 In Orléans meet your host families & return with them to your French-home-away-from-Home

  • Your Prometour Tour Director will accompany you to Orléans but will not remain in Orléans forthe duration of the Exchange Program.Though there will not be a Prométour Representative with the group for the duration of the family-stay program, he/she is available to the group by phone in case of emergency.

DAY 3: - ORLEANS - FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 17
  • Visit Cours Saint Charles with your host student.

DAY 4: - ORLEANS - SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 18
  • Bon weekend! Enjoy the weekend with your host family!

DAY 5: - ORLEANS - SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 19
  • Bon weekend! Enjoy the weekend with your host family!

DAY 6: - ORLEANS - MONDAY, FEBRUARY 20
  • Day trip to Château de Chambord. This château is said to be the inspiration for the fairy tale sleeping beauty.

DAY 7: - ORLEANS - TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 21
  • Visit the city of Orléans and learn it's history and present day status.
DAY 8: - PARIS - WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 22

  • Breakfast with your host family.
  • At the Gare Orleans Centre – say a fond Merci et Au Revoir to your new French family!
  • 07:51 Board your TER train to travel to Paris
  • 09:13 Arrive in Paris at the Gare d'Austerlitz.
  • While in Paris travel as the locals do, by foot and metro!
  • Transfer to your hotel by foot or using public transportation.
  • Drop off your luggage; the rooms will be ready for check-in later in the day.
  • 11:00 Enter the Cathédrale Notre Dame de Paris - See the interior, including the famous Rose window, the statue of Joan of Arc and Great Organ with 8000 pipes!
  • With your Prometour Tour Director explore the always-exciting Quartier Latin.
  • 15:00 Visit the magnificent Musée d'Orsay, formerly a train station, and now a museum devoted mainly to impressionist and modernists movements. Guided or audio guides, based on availability.
  • 17:30 Head to Montmartre, La Butte, as it is known locally
  • Take a look at the amazing mosaics on the interior of Sacré-Coeur Basilica
  • Admire the famous Moulin de la Galette
  • 20:00 Have dinner at Restaurant La Cremaillere located on the famous Place de Tertres. They often have typical French music for you to sing along with!
DAY 9: - PARIS - THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 23

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Discover Musée Louvre and just some of its wonderful masterpieces including Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa as well as the striking glass pyramid in front of the museum. Guided or audio guides, based on availability.
  • Visit Boulangerie Patisserie du Grand Richelieu to see how they make French croissants (includes a tasting!)
  • At the Arc de Triomphe - l’Étoile, see the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier & Eternal Flame.
  • Stroll on the Champs-Elysées with some free time to explore the boutiques!
  • 18:00 Dinner with your Prometour Tour Director
  • 19:30 Cruise the River Seine on a bateau mouche
  • 21:00 See Paris from the 3rd floor of the Eiffel Tower - Named after its designer, Gustave Eiffel, it the tallest building in Paris and one of the most recognized structures in the world
DAY 10: - RETURN HOME - FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 24

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Transfer by metro & RER train to the airport
  • Board the flight back to the USA
